Section Headings

MLA section headers are included on an as-needed basis, far less frequently than APA, and are usually not required. However, section headers are especially beneficial when writing a longer work, though many levels are not needed. Below is the formatting for the different levels of MLA section headers. For more specific header questions, visit the MLA Style page on Internal Headings and Subheadings. As an additional note, do NOT consult Purdue OWL for this section, as the information is inconsistent.
